GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES 2025/2026 FISP REDEEMING EXERCISE IN MUNGWI DISTRICT
This morning, we officially launched the 2025/2026 Farmer Input Support Programme-FISP Redeeming Exercise in Mungwi District. For the 2025/2026 farming season, a total of 15,000 farmers in Mungwi District are set to benefit from the programme. This initiative will urther strengthen the district’s position as one of the leading producers of maize and rice in the country. During the event, we emphasized the UPND New Dawn Government’s unwavering commitment to the smallholder farming community. With over 90 percent of the country’s food supply coming from these hardworking men and women, Government under the able leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema remains resolute in its commitment to supporting them with timely and affordable farming inputs. We reaffirmed the UPND New Dawn Government’s belief in the critical role small-scale farmers play in ensuring national food security and driving economic growth. As Government, we have taken decisive steps to improve the distribution system. Government has engaged closely with agro-dealers to guarantee timely delivery of inputs, even to remote areas such as Kayambi Camp, ensuring no farmer is left behind in this important national exercise. The backbone of our economy is our agricultural sector. The success of every farming season is a step towards national prosperity and household food security. Let us all work together to make this farming season a success and ensure food security for our nation.
