This morning, we officially launched the 2025/2026 Farmer Input Support Programme-FISP Redeeming Exercise in Mungwi District. For the 2025/2026 farming season, a total of 15,000 farmers in Mungwi District are set to benefit from the programme. This initiative will urther strengthen the district’s position as one of the leading producers of maize and rice in the country. During the event, we emphasized the UPND New Dawn Government’s unwavering commitment to the smallholder farming community. With over 90 percent of the country’s food supply coming from these hardworking men and women, Government under the able leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema remains resolute in its commitment to supporting them with timely and affordable farming inputs. We reaffirmed the UPND New Dawn Government’s belief in the critical role small-scale farmers play in ensuring national food security and driving economic growth. As Government, we have taken decisive steps to improve the distribution system. Government has engaged closely with agro-dealers to guarantee timely delivery of inputs, even to remote areas such as Kayambi Camp, ensuring no farmer is left behind in this important national exercise. The backbone of our economy is our agricultural sector. The success of every farming season is a step towards national prosperity and household food security. PRESIDENT HICHILEMA CONCLUDES SUCCESSFUL WORKING VISIT TO THE UNITED KINGDOM
LONDON, 3 October 2025 – President Hakainde Hichilema has successfully concluded a three-day working visit to the United Kingdom, during which he held high-level engagements with His Majesty King Charles III and senior officials in the British Government. In a statement issued as he departed London for Lusaka, President Hichilema expressed gratitude for the warm reception and fruitful discussions held throughout the visit. “We are grateful for the productive discussions we have held over the past three days with King Charles III and the British Government,” said President Hichilema. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration in key sectors. President Hichilema emphasized that the partnerships being forged are aimed at delivering tangible benefits for the Zambian people. “The partnerships we are fostering will help to deliver jobs, boost investment, and build resilience in key areas like energy,” he stated. The President reaffirmed his government’s commitment to driving inclusive economic growth and sustainable development through strategic international cooperation. London – 3rd October, 2025 — President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed Zambia’s position as one of Africa’s most attractive investment destinations, telling British businesses that the country is ready to grow with its partners. Speaking this morning at the Invest Africa Forum in London, where more than 40 UK companies gathered to explore opportunities in Zambia, President Hichilema delivered a strong message of confidence and openness. “Zambia is open for business. With peace, stability, and ongoing reforms to improve the business environment, we are one of Africa’s most reliable destinations for investment,” he said. The Head of State highlighted Zambia’s focus on economic growth, job creation, and expanding opportunities across sectors. He noted that energy is at the heart of the country’s development agenda, stressing that securing a sustainable energy future is essential to powering homes, industries, and long-term prosperity. “We need to build capacity to power our homes and our continued economic growth. That is the path to long-term prosperity,” President Hichilema said. Zambia and Kenya Strengthen Diplomatic Ties in Science and Technology
October 3, 2025 Nairobi, Kenya – Zambia and Kenya have strengthened their diplomatic ties through a courtesy visit by Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati, and Permanent Secretary Dr. Brilliant Habeenzu to Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, where they met with Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, H.E. Hon. William Kabogo. The meeting, held at the Ministry Headquarters, aimed to enhance collaboration between the two nations in the areas of innovation, digital skills, and connectivity. Both countries are committed to accelerating digital and socio-economic transformation, with Kenya’s progress serving as a model for digital and socio-economic transformation. Zambia and Kenya agreed to establish a framework for cooperation, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in science, technology, and innovation. Boosting Regional Tourism: Zambia Showcases its Potential at Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2025
NAIROBI- The Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) recently showcased the country’s tourism potential at the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE) 2025, held in Nairobi from October 1-3, 2025. Led by Mrs. Amanda Chipungu, Chief Marketing Officer.The Zambian delegation included representatives from Zambia Airways, Hotel Lodge operators, and Travel and Tour companies. The expo provided a platform for Zambia to forge partnerships with Kenya’s tourism sector and highlight its unique tourism offerings, ultimately boosting regional tourism cooperation. Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya, His Excellency Alfred Musemuna, encouraged ZTA to learn from Kenya’s tourism successes and identify areas for collaboration. During the expo, His Excellency Alfred Musemuna toured several stands, including Utali College, Kenya Tourism Board, Bomas of Kenya, Kenya Association of Women in Tourism, and Kenya Association of Travel Agents. Notably, Utali College has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Zambia Institute of Hospitality Studies and is set to welcome Zambian students on scholarships from the Kenyan government. Mrs. Chipungu also made a call for more Travel and Tour companies to attend the Zambia Travel Expo (ZATEX) 2026 in Lusaka. ZATEX aims to position Zambia as a key tourism hub in Africa, promote sustainable tourism practices, and drive inclusive growth in the industry.
